Children’s Cognitive Assessments

Cognitive assessments provide a detailed understanding of how a young person learns, thinks, and processes information. They assess strengths and challenges across different cognitive domains including verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, processing speed, working memory, and attention.

Understanding your young person's cognitive profile helps guide educational support, identify specific learning needs, and build on existing strengths.

  • Duration & Setting

Approximately 2 hours of direct assessment time with your young person. Assessment takes place in a quiet, comfortable space—either at school (with school consent) or at home.

A quiet space free from distractions is essential for accurate assessment.

    • Minimal background noise

    • Limited interruptions

    • Access to a table and comfortable seating

    • A calm environment that helps your young person focus

    The Assessment

A mix of puzzle-based activities, reasoning tasks, and problem-solving exercises. The psychologist will guide your young person through each activity in a supportive, encouraging way. Tasks are designed to be engaging and age-appropriate.
